A BARE, INC. short film uncovering the surreal process behind the making of their iconic mugs.
This short film was made after The Event, when BARE, INC. gave away hundreds of mugs. We invented a false narrative that people demanded to know the mugs' origin, then revealed a surreal machine: part printer, part impossible contraption spitting out mugs. The result transforms a promotional object into a playful slice of branded mythology.
I directed and edited this short, shaping its rhythm around the surreal machine. The sound design relied on an analog “a cappella” approach. Human-made noises layered to mimic mechanical operations, juxtaposing an absurd wire-riddled contraption with real, bodily sound.
