A BARE, INC. short film about how to wash a mug, transforming a banal routine into branded spectacle.
The second BARE, INC. branding short film stages a “routine mug cleaning,” contrasting clinical precision with a light, hummable score. The presentation highlights absurdity without losing austerity, establishing the BARE, INC. mug as both prop and narrative motif for future works (see The Announcement & The Event).
Fully produced and scored in-house (see Music for Ads 001), the short reinforced BARE, INC.’s self-referential approach to branding.
I directed this short film alongside Patrick White, shaping it as a calm, procedural walkthrough of a simple task. After principal photography, I pushed the project toward a musical direction, composing the score, creating the sung motif, and adding the post-production element of singing mouths.
These choices shifted the piece from straightforward documentation toward something more playful and absurd. Joseph Stafford and Joe Ramirez assisted production and also stood in as the on-screen talent.
