BARE, INC. presents a media installation of 5 songs and 6 archived short films, examining sync, spectacle, and the economy of attention.

This short tutorial was released prior to its exhibition

THE INSTALLATION recontextualizes the Music for Ads 001 album across six monitors playing BARE, INC. short films, ostensibly portrayed as advertisements. Visitors approach a stand bearing a prosthetic hand holding headphones, offering them to listen to five songs looping against six screens. With one more screen than songs, synchronization is impossible by design.

The work reframes commercial language through a cinematic glitch: drifting tracks and visuals invite audiences to assemble cross-rhythms and narratives, discovering moments of accidental harmony and friction. Authorship shifts from maker to viewer, highlighting how branding colonizes attention while leaving space for subjective montage, desire, and play. Premiered at Terrain 15 (Spokane, Washington).

My primary role was Lead Director, responsible for the project’s vision and several integrated short films; I also composed Music for Ads 001. Working with Joseph Stafford, who designed the 3D-printed hand and bowl, I fabricated and welded the display stand. Additionally, I designed the cabling to appear functional, built and painted the screen frame, and set up the system so six screens could stream simultaneously without issue.

My role combined directing, composing, design, and fabrication to ensure the installation functioned smoothly while presenting a cohesive visual and sonic experience.
